蜜蠟是不透明或半透明的琥珀，乃遠古松柏科植物樹脂歷經千萬年石化而成，梵文名「阿濕摩揭婆」，與金銀珊瑚等並列為「佛教七寶」。
唐代《本草拾遺》記載其「安五臟，定魂魄」，古人相信蜜蠟能「壯心，明目磨翳，止心痛癲邪」。

Amber is fossilized tree resin from ancient conifers, formed over millions of years. Known in Sanskrit as "Ashma Garbha," it is listed among the Seven Treasures of Buddhism. 
In Tang dynasty, a Chinese medicicine book records its ability to "stabilize the five organs and settle the spirit." Wearing amber stabilizes internal organs, settles the spirit, clarifies vision, clears the heart, relieves chest pain, wards off evil, and enhances spiritual power. Its warm energy calms the mind and supports meditation practice. Buddha statues and ritual objects made from amber are believed to possess spiritual power.
